Collison has stated cryptocurrencies are now a viable option as a means of payment.

This comes after Stripe discontinued its Bitcoin payments option in 2018. According to Collison, stablecoins have since emerged as a stable and efficient alternative.

Stripe's new payment service will be compatible with USD Coin, which is available on the Solana, Ethereum and Polygon blockchains.
